Success at Ditton
20th June 2014
From the beginning, staff at our Ditton site have been exceptionally enthusiastic about the project and have really got involved in educating their local communities.
With Sun Care & Biotechnology being the focus at Ditton, school children are always really interested in learning about the chemistry behind sunscreens, so the ’Safe in the Sun’ classroom activities prove to be popular. Children learn how to protect themselves from the sun’s harmful rays and devise an experiment to test how well a sunscreen works.
The Ditton team have built excellent relationships with their local schools and have enjoyed seeing the level of knowledge of the pupils improve over the years. Paul Staniland is playing a key role in this project at Ditton and told us about their plans for the coming year: “We would like to increase the use of the resources in schools and open the project up to as many schools as possible in local areas. We have already placed advertisements in Teachers’ Newsletters offering the resources for use, and plan to hold multi-school training sessions to introduce the project to as many teachers as possible.”
